Wedding Photography for Guy & Rachels Wedding at Waterside Hotel in Didsbury
The Morning Of The Wedding
It was a lovely fresh winters day, cold but with a bright blue sky, the chosen church was the St Johns Church in Heaton Mersey, it is a stunning large church with lots of character and charm, the vicar was extremely friendly and made me feel at ease to take photographs where ever I wanted in the building during the service.
I met Guy at the church around 12pm and we walked a short journey to the nearby pub for some pre wedding photographs. Guy looked very smart and was wearing a classic brown suit, with matching waste coat and matching brown brogue shoes, which had a blue toe. He seemed a little bit nervous but in very good spirits.
At the pub we met some of Guys family, guests and the ushers who were all enjoying a pre wedding drink. There was a great atmosphere and I took some wonderful pictures of the groom and his ushers playing pool, along with some family group shots. We then all walked back to the church to get ready for the ceremony.
The Wedding Service
When Rachel arrived she looked stunning; smiling from ear to ear while leaving the wedding car, all the way into the church. Her Dad walked her down the aisle and looked real proud while Guy waited excitedly at the opposite end. I managed to get some great photographs capturing these moments.
After the service I took lots of typical style group photographs of the family and wedding party outside the church and also took some of the couple with their chosen wedding car – a funky sky blue VW camper van!
I had suggested it would be a good idea to take the couple to the nearby Parsonage gardens in Didsbury, which was less than a mile from the Waterside reception venue, to get some bride and groom photos with the stunning winter trees and winter colours creating a beautiful backdrop. Guy and Rachel agreed that it made for a stunning scene. I was familiar with the gardens as I had used them a few times before for other wedding couples who had got married in the area.
The Wedding Reception
Guy and Rachel chose the stunning Waterside Hotel and Leisure club in Didsbury, North West for their wedding reception. The Waterside is a stunning modern hotel with so much character and has a real buzz about the place that you can’t help but feel at ease when you walk in and feel relaxed and upbeat.
Everyone headed into the reception room, which was decorated with vintage jars and blush pink roses, which looked amazing in the amazing wedding. We had a small break in the rain so decided to run outside to get some couples portraits before heading back inside allowing me to capture natural, documentary photos of the guests enjoying themselves.
The Speeches and Evening Reception
Where do I begin with the speeches? Seriously, some of the naturally, funniest speeches I’ve had the pleasure to witness with everyone, including the staff, laughing until they cried!
After the speeches we made the most of the dark and had a few more photos done around the grounds. It was great to experiment with some off camera flash and to capture the rain outside while in the doorway.
When the evening guests arrived it didn’t take long for the party to start with everyone piling onto the dance floor before the first dance had even started! Once the first dance was done it filled up with even more people and the party was truly underway!
